Worship Harvest is a ministry that understands Christ’s command to be a doer of the word and to be like the wise man who built on a rock. The proof of this is the obedience in establishing Harvest Institute for wise men and women, so they can build on the solid rock.
Matthew 7:24-29
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
After reading this passage and meditating on its deep meaning in my devotion recently, I immediately realized how the establishment of Harvest Institute was a result of this hearing and obedience.
Jesus, the greatest teacher that ever was, gave this parable as a conclusion to His preaching on the fundamental principles of His Kingdom in Chapters 5, 6 and 7 of the book of Mathew. He had started with the beatitudes; He then mentioned that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world; He went on to teach about the principles behind the laws – murder, adultery, divorce, oaths, revenge, prayer, fasting etc. He then concluded with how to build on the solid rock and who is a wise and foolish man respectively. We are to hear and act on the word of God. By doing this, we are like the wise-man who built on a rock!
Part of this build process is investing time, resources, energy etc in our personal growth processes: strengthening our spiritual muscle so as to live holy; investing in strong mental infrastructure and increasing in knowledge, understanding and wisdom; effective management of our emotions and emotional intelligence; stewarding our physical bodies well through proper feeding, exercising and sleeping well; living life with a purposeful life and influencing our spheres for transformation to the glory of God.
The rains, floods and winds represent challenges of life that come to all human beings. Building on a solid rock ensures steadfastness and stability no matter what happens to us in this life. It ensures healing for the sick, strength for the weak, assurance for the discouraged, victory in warfare etc.
Let us always listen and act!
Thank you Worship Harvest for being doers of the word by providing such an awesome platform! It is a place of learning and growing. (Congratulations too to the HI students and alumni!). May God bless these efforts with fruitfulness, signs and wonders – for His glory and honour! Amen!
